In a bizarre collaboration that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of prohibited rituals and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The plot features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden sect.

The mission centers on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a powerful moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana together with several objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
