It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
