The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.

Digital Channels Reaction

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Changes

Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
